A typical day at a classical wedding

We play for many different weddings including all Christian denominations, civil, humanist, Muslim, Hindu and are very happy to discuss your wishes for your special day. Here’s an example of how AlbaMusica can enhance a typical wedding:

Arrival of Guests

We provide relaxing background music (usually 15 to 20 minutes) for your guests to enjoy as they take their seats for the ceremony. This can be your own playlist of 4 – 5 songs, or we can choose a delightful set of appropriate music for you.

Entry of the Bridal Party

One of the most beautiful and emotional parts of the wedding service, this deserves only the most special music and is a very personal choice. Normally this music is evocative or celebratory.

AlbaMusica can suggest some pieces you might like or you can ask for your favourite tune. We have an extensive repertoire of songs and you can also ask for songs to be arranged especially.

The song doesn’t have to exactly match the timing of the bride reaching the front; we are very experienced in stopping the music so that it sounds “just right”.

We have played many different pieces of music at this point, so don’t hesitate to ask for your own special choice.

Hymns

Hymns are an important part of a religious marriage ceremony and a chance for your guests to participate in the service.

We can play any hymn from the Scottish, Catholic or Church of England Hymnals, and we can arrange any other more unusual hymns you would like free of charge.

 Signing of the Marriage Register

This is another point in the ceremony where music is essential, to entertain your guests while you sign the register. It is a wonderful moment of calm in the proceedings so we suggest some quiet slow music such as Bach Air on a G string, My Love is like a Red Red Rose or Schubert’s Ave Maria, however many couples like to choose a song that is special to them.

Exit of the Bride and Groom

The most joyful and celebratory part of the marriage ceremony, this requires lively and triumphal music. Our repertoire includes such favourites as Mendelssohn’s Wedding March, The Arrival of the Queen of Sheba or All You Need is Love but the choice is yours, and we would be happy to advise.  This music will be played until all your guests have left the room.

Drinks Reception

Most weddings and civil partnership ceremonies have a drinks reception between the actual ceremony and the meal, enabling photographs to be taken of the happy couple and for old friends and relatives to renew their acquaintance over a glass of bubbly!

AlbaMusica provides a varied selection of background music for your drinks reception. This will include pop songs, film music, classical, opera, blues, ragtime, a big mix of appropriate music either chosen by us for the atmosphere on the day, or if you like, a play list of some of your favourites. Whatever you decide, the music at this point of the proceedings will create a fun, joyful and upbeat atmosphere.

Meal

Some couples like to have background music played during the meal. We can play for the meal only, or in addition to the ceremony and drinks.

For this we provide a wide selection of music from our extensive repertoire, usually starting with the more classical songs  and finishing with more lively, popular numbers. Of course you are encouraged to give us some suggestions of particular songs or styles of music you would like to hear.
